Expanding to Grades 6 & 7 at George Washington University Online High School

We’re thrilled to share that GWUOHS is planning to expand our program to include 6th and 7th grade for the upcoming school year. This expansion reflects growing family interest and our commitment to providing a rigorous, flexible, and student-centered learning experience earlier in a student’s academic journey.

Because we are committed to maintaining the high-quality instruction and personalized support that define GWUOHS, enrollment for these new grades will be intentionally limited during the initial launch.

How Enrollment Will Work

To ensure we can support dedicated teachers and resources, grades 6 and 7 will open once minimum enrollment thresholds are met.

What this means for your family:

  • Families may complete an application now to be placed on our priority interest list
  • If enrollment thresholds are met, students on the priority list will be among the first offered placement
  • If enrollment minimums are not reached, families will be notified promptly and alternative options will be discussed

This approach allows GWUOHS to grow thoughtfully while ensuring every student receives the engagement, structure, and academic support families expect.
