Rising Senior Recognized for Volunteerism
Carly Lippert, a rising 2013 GWUOHS senior, received the Sandlot Hero award on June 26th at Incline Village, Nevada. The Sandlot Hero Fund is a charitable organization whose primary objective is to encourage social entrepreneurs and their projects, investing in the visions of young people who positively impact the lives of those in need.
According to Max Sigander, GWUOHS Dean of Students and Academic Advisor, “As Carly’s academic advisor and one of her science teachers I have had the privilege of communicating regularly with Carly for the last three years. I am constantly amazed by the steps she is willing to take in order to meet the needs of others while balancing her own commitments. During her junior year alone Carly shared study tips with her peers and traveled extensively to support family members in need of a smile. Carly further took the initiative to sacrifice her own resources in order to provide hope for a child in the Dominican Republic. Carly is a role model not only for her peers, but also for the adults she encounters!”
In lieu of accepting the award gift of an iPad, Carly asked the Fund to provide a scholarship to a young girl she met through one of her recent volunteer efforts. Learn more about Carly's outstanding accomplishments and join us in congratulating Carly for this recognition.
